This workshop led by Ashnah Strongheart will go through a full vocal warm-up with the goal of releasing your voice (not for the goal of singing, but for communication). Our voices are often hindered by trauma, anger, pain, sadness etc.. and affect how we show up in the world. Ashnah will guide participants through a warm-up that embodies breath and body awareness and leads them into an exploration of their voice. Our sound is a release.
Ashnah Strongheart recently graduated from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts with an MFA in Drama. She has studied various forms of vocal and body work and enjoys the employment of teachings from Richard Linklater and Feldenkrais.
*Yoga mat recommended, but not required. Please wear clothes you are comfortable moving in.

This workshop will be a brief introduction into approaches of “Deep Listening” which were developed by Pauline Oliveros and many of her peers. We will be focusing on a selection of guided, group exercises inspired by compositions, “sonic meditations” and “quantum listening” methods with the goal of shaping our daily lives to reflect holistic ways of listening as both creative individuals and community members.
This workshop will be facilitated by Yellow Moon Temple.
Yellow Moon Temple are interdisciplinary artists Kari Treadwell and Cecyl Ruehlen. This is one of many projects the duo has collaborated on since 2011. Their work haunts the body with ecstatic lunar energy, finding pleasure in warbling repetitions, cloud-like tones, and sounds within sounds. The kernel of their practice contains a deep interest in the drone-continuum, somatic trance, and a love of new age deep cuts. Both artists interweave the worlds of performance, installation, craft, education, and community programming.

From O’Odham Jewed to Falasteen, our struggles are connected. Textiles are an ancient form of remembering and storytelling that transcend linear and colonial ways of thinking. Quilting is an art that allows us to find collective meaning, identity and solidarity in a sensorial, embodied shared experience. Local organizers and textile artists Anissa and Zoe will provide materials and guide you through sewing your own piece onto the Community Solidarity Quilt as we connect about our shared struggles, learning and hopes for a liberated future and raise mutual aid funds for three families surviving genocide in Gaza.
